Take garden tours. There is no substitute for actually seeing gardens not in the flesh. I usually one or two laps each spring and summer just to see what I like.

Magazines to read. These dead-tree-monthly magazines are full of pictures of large gardens. How else do you think their products to market? :-) I'm going to a bookstore and browse the shelves.
