Planting in a natural way is healthier than with using synthetic methods. Organic gardening teaches us how to grow plants and maintain the soil without any chemicals and other hazardous compounds. It keeps the natural process of planting but still produces a healthy plant and still productive just like in inorganic methods.
Organic gardening uses organic matters such as decayed plants and animal wastes as the plant's fertilizer. Everything that is natural like compost, dried leaves, grass clippings manures, and others are very useful and vital for this type of gardening.
The soil is very important for the plants. It is where they get all the nutrients for them to grow well and healthy. The first thing a gardener should do is feed the soil, and then the soil will feed the plants. So it all starts with the soil. There are different kinds of soil that we can use for planting. The clay is one of the best types to use for it is high in nutrients. It also holds more water than the sandy soils. Though so, because it holds too much water, and the clay particles are too close to each other, there can only be a little air that the roots can get. This is when we need to add some organic matters. This will develop the soil texture for it attracts more soil organisms and get more nutrients.
The greatest question for natural gardening is about pest control. We all know how effective synthetic pest controls are these days, and it is difficult not to get interested with them but the avoidance of chemical products for plants will keep its natural nutrients and gives us a healthier and safer source for food.
There are still organic pesticides that are available today. We just have to make sure to use the right ones for our plants. But because we are using the traditional and natural method, we may expect a little damage on our plants. Although this is not 100% controllable, insects are not there for a long time. Some bugs only stay for some months and after that, we can expect a more productive crop again.
What other gardeners do not know is that when we spray too much pest control on our crops, certain animals like birds, frogs, lizards and snakes can also stay away from it. The said animals can scare away bugs that might ruin our plants. So even if we do not use artificial pest control, we can still find help from animals who goes into our garden.
For better results on our organic gardens, we need to cooperate our planting with nature. Selecting plants that suits our site conditions will bring us productivity and success with gardening. We also need to know more about seasonal plants. This way, we can have ideas what kind of plant breeds can stand a certain season each year.
